Hi and welcome to my blog where I talk about my journey of self discovery and finding joy along the way.

It’s time for recess, you ready to play?😃

I can’t, God can, I think I’ll let Him…

The first 3 steps of Al Anon (and AA) can be summarized as; I can’t, God can, I think I’ll let Him.

For those of you who don’t know, Al Anon is the sister group of Alcoholics Anonymous, a 12 step group that has helped countless men and women break free from addiction. Though I don’t participate as much as I once did, Al Anon has changed my life and I firmly believe everyone deserves the 12 steps.

Those first 3 steps are powerful. Step one is admitting that we are powerless in overcoming addictions (and all of us have them) on our own. We can’t force change or healing, we get to rely on a Higher Power to help us (step 2). Step 3 is choosing to allow God to heal what we can’t on our own.

This may sound like not taking accountability or stepping up where we can. We definitely get to do our part. Meditate, journal, work the 12 steps with a sponsor if you choose. We do what we can and let go and allow God to step in and do what we can’t. I love how Kyle Cease puts it. We can try to do it ourselves, or allow God, Who made the Indian Ocean and Niagara Falls, etc., to step in and help us.

What can you let go of and allow God to step in and help you with?

Much love,

Jules ❤
